Many thanks

Firstly I want to thank my family who, after my last post, was so encouraging and comforting. I am most definitely savoring these last 48 hours. It is a bitter sweet in every sense; the sweetness of the fresh honey from Crete with my yogurt this morning and yet the bitterness of my inbox filling up with innumerable emails wanting me to schedule, plan, and prepare. Greece has been the perfect end to an amazing trip. Our hostel is unreal with air conditioning, in room bathrooms, free breakfast, a rooftop terrace that overlooks the acropolis and a beautifully remodeled home with wood floors and real mattresses. It is insane. We arrived late last night and ate here at the hostel where I enjoyed and incredibly fresh Greek salad complete with a large slab of feta on top. After a great sleep in our luxurious beds we enjoyed the wonderful breakfast and then went to the famous and huge flea market. There was shop after shop filled with hand made leather sandals, ouzo, luggage, baklava, and trinkets galore. We stumbled upon a bakery where the sheer smell lures you in. After exploring a bit more we headed back to rest. Tonight we are heading to the acropolis to take in some history and culture.

Since being in Rome and here in Greece I can't help but think of the Biblical significance of where I am. Walking through Rome I thought a lot about Paul, one of my favorite teachers of the bible and how I am walking in a place that he very likely once stood. The same here is Athens. With Corinth and Thesilonica right up the road, I am understanding more what his life may have been like. It has also made me crave the word more and more. God has been giving me a lot of courage in talking about my faith, and just today we had lunch with a woman who lives in Jerusalem but we are sharing our room with her. I was able to share the Gospel with her and explain the differences between Catholicism, Protestantism, and Judaism. She seemed very intrigued and had a lot of questions. It is just really cool to be able to go literally around the world and talk about my God and know, now more than ever, that he is the one true God.

I secondly owe a huge thanks to Megan, my steadfast travel companion, and comic relief. We have been friends for a while now, but sometimes do not get a lot of hangout time when we are school. Having a month of being together 24/7 has allowed me to see little things about her that I have never seen before. One of the best is her humor. She has the ability to keep the mood light and to make me laugh right when I need it. We have spent numerous nights laughing for what seems like hours even one comment she makes. This has been an absolutely invaluable attribute that honestly the trip would not have been nearly as great without. We have even started making a list of funny things that have happened or that she has said so that we can go back and laugh later.

Basically I am having an amazing time and as much as I don't want to leave Greece, I equally as badly want to be at 8 point lake with my family enjoying a s'more around the fire.

Standing in awe of Gods unchanging character,

Sigourney
