It's Friday so this must be France
After a quick up and down we arrived very early to Paris from Madrid. We landed in an extremely small airport and honestly had no idea what we were doing, but we followed the crowd and made it to the city center after a long bus ride to the city center. The countryside of France is beautiful and reminded me of stories my friend David has told me from growing up there. We ended up quite close to the arc de triumph and decided to sprint across the 12 lane traffic circle to get a closer look, only to find that there was an underground pedestrian walkway. With our 20 pound packs in tow we found a map and trekked across the city to find our hostel. Not before stopping to see Notre Dame first. After many questions and fighting the language berried we finally found the hostel and just sat for a while. When we were recuperated we wandered the neighborhood a bit and found our street quite charming with flower shops, creperias, cafes, and a fruit market all just a slow stroll away. We then headed to the Louvre and were completely blown away at how gigantic it was. We found a charming park nearby with rows and rows of trees and reclining chairs to rest in. Something I absolutely love about Paris is all the huge parks and flower gardens. It really is a very romantic city. When we went back to the hostel to check into our room we headed up to our 6 bed room and found 4 boys staying there. It was a jump into the water of the hostel world, but luckily we were warmly greeted by a kind australian who happened to be in his towel. We strolled a bit around town and saw all the locks on the bridges and i was so stunned by all the promises of love made in the city after we got back to the hostel We headed across the street and had crepes for dinner and then headed to bed after a very long day. We woke early the next day and made our way over to the Eiffel tower. It was more beautiful than we thought and wi was again so impressed by the gardens surrounding the tower. We then decided we wanted to see the Moulin Rough so we hopped on the underground and headed to a totally different side of town. It was pretty disappointing after seeing it in my favorite movie, but I'm glad we went. We sat in McDonalds where I skyped mom and then headed to the airport. Exhausted we sat in the airport were we met two girls that are in the US air force ad happened to know one of my friends from school because she is a u of M alum! Crazy how small the world is.
In awe of how big and yet how small the world is,
