Help needed!

Hello friends!  So after spending quite sometime trying to figure out how to access my blog so that I could post this, here I am.  As you may or may not know, at the end of this month (in 17 days to be exact) my parents and I, along with a large team, will be traveling to La Libertad, El Salvador on a mission trip with New Life Church (the church I am a member of here in Ann Arbor).  The community to which we will be traveling is very poor and could use any donations you may have.  This could mean monetary, but does not have to.  Last year I had a suitcase bursting with everything from dresses for women to one-sies for babies. There are also a lot of children so any small toys, art supplies, and office supplies for the staff members of the church would be greatly appreciate.  Please let me know if you have anything that you would be willing to donate and I will gladly retrieve it!  Also, if you are in the Mt. Pleasant area I am sure my parents would be willing to meet up with you.

Most of all I ask you to partner with out team in prayer.  Above all else these people need to hear the Good news of Jesus and the grace and salvation he has to offer.  Please pray for their hearts to be open as well as ours to be humble and lay our lives down for the Great Commission.  Gracias y bendiciones!

Spontaneous

One of my favorite things in life is being spontaneous.  Yesterday I got invited to go to a place called "Puerta del Diablo" which translates to "The Devil's Door."  After a long car ride, which for no real reason I found extremely fun, we arrived and it was beautiful.  There were street vendors all around selling "elote loco," or crazy corn, hand made crafts, and there were even carnival rides.  We climbed up on one side of the cliffs to take in our surroundings.  At the top I was talking with one of my friends Mari who has moved here from Ohio.  We were reminded of how huge God is and also had a moment of "wow, we live in Central America!" This is not Easy

A lot of crappy things here happen on a daily basis, but recently a few things in particular have happened that I feel I simply can't remain silent about.  What sparked my desire to write this post happened about a week ago.  I think it was a Saturday and I got home to hear my host family talking about something they saw at the beach earlier that day.  I wasn't paying attention at first, but then I put the pieces together, and there were five people who got pulled out to sea with nothing but an inflatable and the sun was going down.  Ok so maybe the fact that there are strong rip tides here this shouldn't surprise me so much, but what really disturbed me was that everyone just assumed that they all drowned and no one seemed surprised.  Furthermore, they were saying that the people were foolish and should have known better. A day in the life

So I promise I will get back to my studies of the promises of God, but today was so uneventfully wonderful that I feel the need to tell you about it. Just like any other normal day I woke up to the birds chirping, the dogs barking, the neighbor girl crying, and cool air biting my toes.  One of my favorite parts of the day is heading downstairs bright and early to make my cup of coffee and return to the fresh air in my room to read and watch the sunrise all while savoring the first cup of coffee of the day.  As the rest of the inhabitants of the house begin to stir we quickly have breakfast and head down the mountain to start another day.  We first go into town to drop off Marielos at the market and the sound of buses and bells signaling fresh baked bread always brings a smile to my face.  Downtown is crawling with people coming into town with goods to sell and heading out of town to work as well as many locals stopping to have a cup of coffee with a friend.  ...
